New York celebrates one year of gay marriage

New York will celebrate one year of marriage equality this week. The marriage equality law came into action on July 24th last year, making New York the sixth US state to give gay couples the right to wed. On the first day, 659 gay couples married.

Boston mayor says ‘anti-gay’ Chick-fil-A not welcome

The mayor of Boston has said that fast food chain Chick-fil-A will find it "very difficult" to open in Boston because of its statements on marriage equality. Mayor Thomas M Menino suggested he would block the chain from opening in the city because it "discriminates against a population".
