Equal marriage opponents’ poll finds government plans not a factor for most voters

A ComRes poll announced by equal marriage opponents the Coalition for Marriage and Christian Institute has revealed that, for most voters, the government's proposals are not enough to sway them to or from a political party.

Following comments made by the Prime Minister David Cameron where he reaffirmed his commitment to same sex civil marriage equality, the London Evening Standard has joined The Times and other newspapers in backing a change in the law.

Following claims by the Mail on Sunday that the Tory Chief Whip, Patrick McLoughlin told MPs that proposals for equal marriage will be "kicked into the long grass", the Prime Minister has used a pre-local election interview to reaffirm his commitment to the cause.

Incumbent Conservative Mayor of London Boris Johnson both appeared to reneged on his promise to launch an LGBT manifesto and a promise to answer the questions of PinkNews readers. But a document published last night entitled 'Uniting Londoners' does contain a number of LGBT policies and a reference to PinkNews.

Editorial: UKIP isn’t just a joke, its attitude to the anti-gay views of candidates may well be dangerous

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) is expected to perform well during tomorrow’s local elections, potentially outperforming the junior governing Coalition partners, the Liberal Democrats, in terms of the popular vote. But its advance as a political party is something that ought to concern many in our community.
